Shao Lei

Shao Lei, born in 1990 in Jiangsu, China, graduated from the sculpture program of Jingdezhen Ceramic Academy in Jiangxi Province in 2013. His works mainly establish a dialogue with primitive materials through the expression of sculpture, exploring the relationship between time, space, body and environment from the perspective of history, archaeology and the structure of human society, maintaining sensitivity to primitive materials in a poetic, tactile way of working, presenting a fragile, organic, molten and natural atmosphere. His artistic philosophy emphasizes the interaction with materials and considers the interaction between the body and the work as part of the creation. He is accustomed to working with clay in a state of contemplation and labor, perceiving the emotions of the earth through touch and exploring the potential of the material. Through continuous practice and exploration, he integrates his personal emotions and perception of nature into each piece, creating celestial music with poetic meaning.
