Zhan Guixi

Born in 1970, Zhan Guixi is a representative heir of China's provincial Jianzhan technique, a celebrity of Fujian arts and crafts, and a master of Fujian ceramic art. He modelled an antique dragon kiln and endeavored to restore the traditional Song Dynasty firing technique. He has developed traditional Jianzhan glaze colors such as rabbit hair glaze, tea powder glaze, persimmon red glaze, obsidian axis, and so on. His works are simple and generous, warm and moist like jade, with good kiln effect. His Jianzhan works were selected as the designated products for the 2017 BRICS leaders' meeting in Xiamen. His works won the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Xiamen Cultural Fair Gold, Silver, Bronze and Best Creativity Awards, the 8th Fujian Arts and Crafts "Competition Cup" Silver Award, the 9th Huangtian Straits Crafts Fair Gold Award.
