Paula Murray

Paula Murray is an accomplished Canadian artist specializing in ceramics. She studied science at the University of Ottawa, then specialized in ceramics at Sheridan College and completed two internships at the Banff Centre. She has been creating ceramic art full-time since opening her personal studio in 1980. Paula was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in 2017 and has received several creative grants and awards for her unique artwork. Internationally acclaimed, Paula's work has been featured in several international exhibitions including the Grand Palais in France, Hangzhou in China, Aveiro in Portugal, and won the Kito Award at the 2017 Jingdezhen International Ceramics Biennale. Inspired by her intimate relationship with nature and experiences raising her two children in Canada and South America, Paula's discovery of the Bahá'í Faith and ongoing study of spiritual writings have also inspired many themes in her work. Her work focuses on personal agency, free will, and how we respond to and engage with the pain of our inner and outer experiences. Paula's artistic practice not only advances ceramic art, but also brings new perspectives and inspiration to the contemporary art world.
